TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested former Health Minister from the 2004-2009 administration Siti Fadilah Supari. KPK spokesman Yuyuk Andriati Isaac, said that Siti is being detained at the Pondok Bambu Detention Center since Monday, October 24, 2016.
"For investigation purposes, the suspect will be held for 20 days at Pondok Bambu's Women Detention Center," Yuyuk said.
Siti is a suspect in an alleged graft in the procurement of medical equipment by the ministry's Health Crisis Center (PPKK). She allegedly accepted money from the PPKK chief Rustam Syarifuddin Pakaya.
Siti objects to being named as a suspect and claimed she has been criminalized. "Finally, for the first time in five years I am now being shown to a very unfair law," Siti said after going through an examination at the KPK headquarters.
Siti was visibly upset and said during the examination she was only asked about a number of people. "All I was asked was if I knew this person or that person, and then they arrested me without getting to the bottom line. So unfair," Siti said.
The antigraft body named her as a corruption suspect in a procurement of the 2005 medical equipment buffer stock, which happened in April 2014. According to an indictment by Rustam Syarifuddin Pakaya, Siti is said to have received a share from the corruption proceeds.
Siti denied ever receiving money from Rustam. "I never did and there is no proof that I did," Siti insisted.
