TEMPO.CO, Lebak - Rain pouring down over Lebak District, Banten from Saturday evening (22/10) to Sunday by dawn caused Cilemer and Cisangu Rivers to overflow their banks and flooded 5 villages.
Head of Lebak District Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Kaprawi mentioned that five villages where 574 families live are inundated by water 1,5 meter high. The villages are Umbul Jaya, Taman Sari, Ciruji dan Cikeusik in Banjarsari subdistrict, and Cimenteng Jaya in Cibadak subdistrict.
BPBD stated that the flood is going to worsen since rain is still falling and they urge the people to evacuate to a safer place.
In addition, the local government has also distributed aids such as clothing, blankets, instant noodle, mineral water, sadines, and kitchen utensils to the affected residents.
"We have assigned subdistrict and village officials to stay vigilant in order to reduce disaster risks, prevent potential casualties and damages," he added.
