TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tangerang Mayor Arief Wismansyah on Friday has asked the city’s residents to keep calm and stay alert following yesterday’s police stabbing in Cikokol.
“I ask Tangerang residents to keep calm as Police are doing their best to handle it. Nevertheless, residents have to stay alert and monitor their surroundings,” he said.
The Mayor have also expressed his concerns over the incident. He and Tangerang Metro Police chief Sr. Comr. Irman Sugema have paid a visit to stabbing victim Comr. Effendi at Siloam Hospital.
“It concerns us. We will let the authorities [handle it]. Police Precinct chief [Effendi] had exhausted all his resources. I hope peace can be maintained in Tangerang City,” the Mayor said.
Yesterday saw three police being stabbed by unidentified person at Yuppentek Cikokol, Tangerang.
Police have seized evidence, such as a knife, a dagger, suspected pipe bombs, a black bag, a white turban, a sticker affixed at police outpost.
Police also found evidence at the suspect’s house in Lebak Wangi, Tangerang, namely a sickle, books, bolts, a soldering iron and cell phones.
