S. Korean Investors Eyeing Investment Opportunities in S. Banten

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - South Korean businesses are looking to invest in south Banten, particularly in footwear and garment industry. Banten Workforce and Transmigration Office head Alhamidi said Thursday after meeting with South Korean delegates and business association in Serang.
“They are interested [in investing] in Banten. In our discussion, they promised to build plants in Banten,” Alhamidi.
Alhamidi said that they will hold a meeting with South Korean businesses and discuss labor issue in a bid to attract more South Korean investors to invest in Banten and expand its industry.
“I want to underline that we will facilitate employment permit in accordance with the existing norms... within two years, Banten will become an example to follow in labor issue,” he said.
Some 455,000 Banten residents are currently unemployed, he added.
