TEMPO.CO, Tangerang - Police have investigated the elder brother of Sultan Azianzah (22), the police attacker in Tangerang.
The Police Chief of Jakarta Headquarters Gen. Insp. Mochamad Iriawan said that according to the suspect’s brother, the suspect was an introvert and did not talk too often.
Sultan’s elder brother admitted that he did not really know about the daily activity of his younger brother, which according to him did not have a permanent work.
The suspect had once been missing and was found to be at Ciamis where he was picked up by his family. He stayed at a Padepokan’ that is now under further police investigation.
Sultan's elder brother was surprised when he was shown the evidence that the police collected from Sultan. Iriawan said that the sibling had no connection with the case that involved his younger brother.
“The suspect is a ‘one man show’. His brother has nothing to do with the case. It was all done by the suspect on his own after he did an online research,” Iriawan said.
The police secured some evidence from Sultan, such as a knife, a dagger, two items that are allegedly a pipe bomb located on the side of the street and river, one black backpack, a white turban, and a sticker that was placed on a traffic post.
The suspect was an alleged member of the Daulah Islamiyah network in Ciamis, West Java. He had allegedly joined the group since 2015 and had been targeted the police.
