TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives’ Legal Commission chairman Bambang Soesatyo has urged Jokowi administration to improve its law enforcement effort. He considers that progress in law enforcement has been very slow.
“Indonesia’s law enforcement quality is poor. Practically, there is no law enforcement agency which is free from unethical behavior,” Bambang said in a written statement in Jakarta on Friday, October 21, 2016.
President Jokowi wishes to revitalize law enforcement after two years in office, started with illegal levy eradication program.
According to Bambang, the government has other issues in law enforcement aside from illegal levies. “What is also important is to improve or restore law enforcement quality by waging war against the judicial mafia,” he said.
However, he has lauded Jokowi administration’s development programs which are not exclusively carried out in Java, in a bid to narrow the inequality between regions.
“I see that the politics of Indonesia-centric development is the government’s effort to strengthen the foundation and unity of Indonesia. So, all regions can enjoy development,” he said.
