TEMPO.CO, Kendari - Eight Chinese nationals have been arrested by Southeast Sulawesi’s Kendari First Class Immigration Office personnel at BTN Sahaji housing complex in Kendari.
Kendari First Class Immigration Office Information and Communication Division head Letehina explained that the arrests were made on Wednesday morning, October 19, at around 10 am local time. All of them are men.
Letehina said that the eight Chinese citizens have allegedly misused the visa waiver program for foreign tourists. “They arrived in Indonesia under visa waiver [program], but have allegedly conducted other activities,” he told reporters on Thursday, October 20.
In the past ten months, Kendari First Class Immigration Office have deported 12 Chinese citizens for misusing immigration documents.
