TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) has provided Transjakarta Cares, a special service for individuals with disabilities in the capital.
"The Transjakarta Care service will pick up disabled individuals and take them to the nearest Transjakarta bus stop," said Budi Kaliwo, President Director of PT Transjakarta on Thursday, October 20, 2016, as quoted by Antara news agency
Budi said that the service is expected to provide better public transportation access for physically challenged individuals.
"Disabled individuals are citizens of Jakarta too. That is why they have the right to enjoy facilities or subsidies from the government of Jakarta, including transportation services," Budi said.
For the initial stage, Budi said that PT Transjakarta will provide five buses, seven drivers and 20 bus operators for the Transjakarta Care service. Budi added that another 40 buses will be available in the near future.
"For the initial stage, Transjakarta Cares will be operational in two zones: the Central Jakarta and West Jakarta. The service starts everyday from 08:00 AM until 5:00 PM [Western Indonesia Time]," Budi said.
The Transjakarta Cares service can be ordered through their call center at: (021) 1500102.
