TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Spokesperson of the National Police Headquarter Insp. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar said that officers found committing extortion or collecting illegal levies will receive firm sanction. "They can be punished severely. They can be demoted or even dismissed from the National Police," Boy said on Thursday, October 13, 2016.
Boy added that the National Police is on the process of eradicating bad cops. "Hopefully, there will be no more illegal levies. If there is still any, just be ready to get caught," Boy said.
The Metro Jaya Police had recently apprehended three police officers suspected of collecting illegal levies in driver's license services.
Metro Jaya Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Awi Setiyono said that the three officers have violated standard operational procedure.
