TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former interior minister Gamawan Fauzi has been questioned by Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) over alleged graft in the electronic identity card (e-KTP) project.
Gamawan has been questioned as a witness for Irman, former director general of Population and Civil Registry Office, who has been named suspect in the case, which has allegedly caused state losses of over Rp2 trillion.
Gamawan was referred to by former general treasury of the Democratic Party M. Nazaruddin. Having been probed on the e-KTP case on September 27, 2016, Nazaruddin said that Gamawan was one of the beneficiaries of e-KTP project honorarium from a consortium who won the bid. “On inflated prices in e-KTP project, the money was distributed to Irman, and to the interior minister,” Nazaruddin said.
The e-KTP project used the state budget of Rp5.9 trillion for 2011-2012 term, during which Gamawan served as minister. Nazaruddin said the cost of the project was inflated by Rp2.5 trillion. The tender for procuring e-KTPs was won by a consortium comprising Perim PNRI, PT Sucofindo, PT LEN Industri, PT Quarda Solution and PT Sandipala Arthaputra, which is called PNRI consortium. All directors of the consortium members had been questioned by the KPK.
