TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded an inflation rate of 0.22 percent for September 2016 with a consumer index price of 125.41, BPS head Suhariyanto said during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday, October 3, 2016.
Suhariyanto explained that the inflation rate was driven by the increases in prices of food, beverage, cigarette, and tobacco (0.34 percent); housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel (0.29 percent); and clothing (0.13 percent).
The increases in price indexes also occurred in health (0.33 percent); education, recreation, and sports (0.52 percent); as well as transportation, communication and financial services (0.19 percent). Meanwhile, the prices of staple food experienced a deflation of 0.07 percent.
The BPS also recorded a year-to-date (January-September, 2016) inflation rate of 1.97 percent and year-on-year inflation rate of 3.07 percent.
The BPS reported that the core component of inflation in September stood at 0.33 percent. In addition, the year-to-date core component of inflation was recorded at 2.58 percent, and the year-on-year core component of inflation stood at 3.21 percent.
