TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A series of earthquakes that struck Trenggalek over the last month have caused the residents worried about landslides because during September, the regency, which is located on the southeren side of East Java, was hit five times by earthquakes with varying scale.
Trenggalek Regent Emil Elestianto Dardak said those successive earthquakes have not led to landslides.
Although the general contours of the land in Trenggalek is relatively unstable, Emil said that the landslides that occurred in several districts last month were purely due to heavy rain.
"Landslide occurred mostly because of high rainfall," Emil said.
The earthquake occurred on 10 September, followed by the one on 21 September, while the third quake occurred Thursday on September 22, 2016 at 1:07 pm.
