LRT Project Contract to be Signed on Oct.17

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe project of Light Rail Transit that managed by PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) will be conducted soon. As planned, contract signature will be held on October 17, 2016.

Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama acknowledged that the LRT construction will be a little late than which was built by the central government. Because his party is still awaiting the government regulation No. 79/2015 on Implementation of Construction Service.

"We will be a little late than Adhi Karya. That's why we forcibly hold auction. In October, contract signature will be conducted for LRT project," he stated, at Dukuh Atas MRT Station, Friday (9/30).

Despite it is late, LRT remains targeted to operate in 2018. Because this a rail-based transportation mode is hoped able to support the implementation of 2018 Asian Games.

For phase 1 (Kelapa Gading-Velodrome) as long as 6 km will be carried out in two years.

"We remain on target, that is 2018," he told.

The city government plans to build aeven corridors as long as 70 km by spending Rp 35 trillion. These seven routes are Kebayoran Lama-Kelapa Gading (21.6 km), Tanah Abang-Pulo Mas (17.6 km), Joglo-Tanah Abang (11 km) and Puri Kembangan-Tanah Abang (9.3 km).

There are also Pesing-Kelapa Gading (20.7 km), Pesing-Bandara Soekarno-Hatta (18.5 km) and Cempaka Putih-Ancol (10 km). LRT is hoped can parse traffic jam in Jakarta up to 30 percent.
