TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, held a limited meeting to discuss law reform with Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly, National Police Chief Tito karnavian, and Attorney General (AG) Prasetyo.
“We will discuss [law reform topics]. One thing for sure, [we want] the law to be more empowered,” Prasetyo said at Wiranto’s office on Wednesday, September 28, 2016.
According to the AG, Indonesian Laws have not been properly implemented causing the development to be hampered. He added that reforms in law enforcer institutions would support the development.
Wiranto explained that topics discussed in the meeting were in line with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s plan.
“The President has instructed that it’s time to realize the Nawacita (nine priority) program that focuses on law issues, after completing the economic policy packages,” Wiranto said.
He claimed that he is responsible to coordinate the formulation of policies on laws with other related ministries and institutions.
Earlier, Jokowi announced his plan to launch a road map for law reform in Indonesia after inviting dozens of law experts to a meeting last week. One aspect to be focused on in the law reform plan is related to protections of investments in Indonesia.
