Three TNI Personnel to Join 2017 Regional Elections

TEMPO.CO, Blitar - The National Armed Force (TNI) Commander, Gatot Nurmantyo, said that other than Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, there are currently three other army personnel planning to run in the upcoming regional elections.

According to him, the three officials are now bidding for permission from their superior officials.

Gatot added that everyone of them will have to resign if they wish to join the race. The same thing has applied to Agus Yudhoyono.

“Once he had registered, I signed and issued his resignation," he said Tuesday, September 27 in Blitar.

Gatot added that Agus' participation in the Jakarta Gubernatorial Race will not affect the armed force. He made sure that the armed force will remain neutral in the election.
