TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Political, Economic and Security Affairs Wiranto ascertained that regional elections, particularly in Jakarta, will run safe and secure.
"What would be the reason behind acts of violence? The system is set, the procedures are set, and security personnel will stand ready. There is no reason to incite violence," Wiranto told reporters at Dharmawangsa Hotel, Kebayoran Baru on Monday, September 26, 2016.
According to Wiranto, there is small to no possibilities of violence in the 2017 Jakarta Gubernatorial Election. "I don't expect that to happen. I hope the people feel the same," Wiranto said.
Wiranto added that candidates, voters, and authorities must work together to maintain peace because international parties will be monitoring the election process.
"If the process [runs well], we will get commendations from other countries," Wiranto said.
