Pasar Minggu Collapsed Victims Bridge Still Under Treatment

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pasar Minggu District Head Eko Kardiyanto said all the victims in collapse of a pedestrian bridge incident in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta on Saturday (24/9) are now being handled by the South Jakarta Social Affairs Agency and South Jakarta Park and Cemetery Agency.
Three people were killed and eight were injured in the accident.
"There were three victims who were killed. They are identified as Lilian Pancawati, Sri Hartati and Ayesha Zahra Ramadan," Eko said on Sunday.
In addition to three deaths, Eko said that there are eight other victims who were injured.
Seven people are still being treated at Tarakan general hospital, Pasar Minggu hospital, and Fatmawati hospital, while one patient has been allowed to return home.
The pedestrian bridge at near Pasar Minggu train station collapsed in heavy rains at around 3:20 pm.
Head of Jakarta Transportation Agency Andriyansyah said the cause of the collapse of the bridge is that the installation of a billboard on the bridge that does not comply with the rules.
"The height of the billboard is approximately 3 meters and covered almost the entire space side railing of the bridge," said Andriyansyah Sunday, September 25, 2016.
In fact, he added, reasonable layout for a billboard is 30 centimeters from the girder (steel stretch) downwards with a maximum height of 1 meter.
