TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A crossing bridge in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta on Saturday afternoon (24/9) collapsed a heavy rain hit the city.
"The bridge has collapsed near Pasar Minggu train station in South Jakarta and the nearby traffic was halted,” according to the official Twitter account of the management traffic of the Jakarta Police.
Information from the officers of the South Jakarta fire squad ground said that at least six people were injured in the incident and it was not immediately known how serious their injuries are.
The bridge collapsed at 3.20 pm after it was hit by a heavy rain.
The command center of the South Jakarta fire squad has deployed four trucks to evacuate the victims.
Traffic congestion was reported in the streets around Pasar Minggu to Depok and the opposing direction. Transjakarta buses and other public vehicles could not pass the street yet.
The bridge connects Pasar Minggu train station with Pasar Minggu traditional market. The bridge hangs over the underpass of Jalan Pasar Minggu.
