TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - At least 42 houses on Jalan Kramat Sentiong 5, Senen, Central Jakarta, were engulfed in a fire on Friday evening (23/9).
Head of Public Relations Division of Central Jakarta Resort Police Com. Suyatno said that the fire hit semi-permanent houses and due to the fire, 71 households have lost their homes.
"The fire originally came from Ence’s house,” said Suyatno through a text message on Saturday (24/9).
It was alleged that the fire was caused by an electrical short-circuit.
Suyatno added based on the information from a resident named Asep (45), the fire began to be seen at around 10:30 pm. At that time, Asep, who was in his house, cried for help.
"After Asep went out of his house, he was Ence’s house was on fire and the fire had spread to other houses,” Suyatno said.
As many as 26 fire trucks have been deployed to contain the fire, which was eventually extinguished at 12 pm.
No casualty was reported in the accident.
