TEMPO.CO, Semarang - Bank Indonesia (BI) Deputy Governor Ronald Waas said BI has no plan yet to carry out currency redenomination.
According to Ronald, it would be done after the draft on rupiah re-denomination has been deliberated by the House of Representatives.
"Actually, if you now look at the numbers, the rupiah has man zeros on it. We have to wait for the law, so we can make moves," said Ronald in Semarang (24/9).
Previously, the central bank said it would do rupiah re-denomination, with the aim that implementation is easier and uses fewer 0 (zero).
Redenomination, however, will not reduce the value of the currency against other currencies. Ronal added.
Associated with the issuance of new bank notes and coins, Ronald added that things are done as mandated by Law No. 7 of 2011 on Currency.
