TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government announced its plan to strengthen ties in development, economic and trade sectors with Fiji by facilitating a forum for business owners from the two countries.
Foreign Affairs Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi said that Fiji is one of Indonesia's largest trading partners in Asia-Pacific with a trading value of US$15,883 in the first semester of this year. The trading value increased by 66.5 percent when compared to that in the same period of last year recorded at US$9,506.
"Both countries must encourage interactions between business owners to strengthen economic ties between the two countries and regions," Retno said in a press release quoted by Bisnis.com on Wednesday, September 21, 2016.
Retno added that Indonesia and Fiji shared a perspective to promote peaceful, friendly, and tolerant pacific region that is conducive to international cooperation.
