TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) representative office in Bangka Belitung recalled several rupiah bills as instructed by the central bank In Jakarta.
"The recall of [rupiah] bills was instructed by the BI head office as stipulated in Bank Indonesia Regulation No. 8/27/PBI/2006," Bayu Martanto, head of BI representative office in Bangka Belitung, said in Pangkalpinang on Wednesday, September 21, 2016.
Bayu explained that the recalled rupiah bills consist of four paper bills and three coins.
"The recalled paper bills consist of Rp 5,000 bills printed in 1992, featuring traditional music instrument sasando rote, Rp 1,000 bills printed in 1992, featuring Nias’ stone jumping image on one of its sides," Bayu explained.
BI also recalled Rp 500 bills printed in 1992 featuring an orangutan image on one of its sides, as well as Rp 100 bills printed in 1992 featuring Phinishi wooden boats on one of its sides.
"Rupiah coins recalled from the circulation are Rp 100 produced in 1991 that features cow race; Rp 50 produced in 1991d and Rp5 produced in 1979," Bayu added.
Bayu called on public to exchange the outdated bills and coins at Bank Indonesia before November 30, 2016.
