TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Central Sulawesi Police chief Brigadier General Rudy Sufahriadi said police have arrested three members of Santoso-led terrorist group in Poso on Wednesday, September 14, namely Andhika, Basri, and Basri’s wife Nurmi Usman alias Oma. Andhika was found dead whereas Basri and Oma were captured alive.
Rudy has corrected previous information stating that Andhika was shot dead. He said that four members of Santoso-led group, the East Indonesia Mujahideen, crossed Puna River on Wednesday.
“They were starving due to logistic problems,” Rudy said at the National Police Headquarters, South Jakarta, Wednesday, September 14, 2016. “It was raining heavily in Poso.”
They were swept away by the river. Andhika’s head hit a rock. “His body has been examined in hospital, no gunshot wound found,” Rudy said.
Basri’s wife was resting on a rock when police arrived. “She’s been evacuated by the Brimob [Mobile Brigade] and the TNI [Armed Force],” he said. Basri has also been arrested. However, one other, Sabron, managed to escape.
Rudy said 12 Santoso followers are still at large, including Sabron. Meanwhile, Basri and Oma have recovered following the incident.
