Police: One Killed in Gili Cat 2 Boat Incident

TEMPO.CO, Denpasar - The Head of the Karangasem Police, Adj. Sr. Comr. Sugeng Sudarso stated that there were four tourists who fall victim to the exploding engine of the Gili Cat 2 fast boat. "There were 35 passengers onboard," Sugeng said on Thursday, September 15, 2016.

One foreign passenger was reported died in the incident. "Three other foreigners suffered injuries on their face and feet," Sugeng said. "The wounded victims have all been evacuated to the hospital."

According to Sugeng, smoke came out of the boat’s engine bay when it was on the Padangbai waters in Tandjung Sari at around 9:35 AM local time. The speedboat was driven by Totok Wasito and was carrying 35 foreign passengers from nine countries.

The list of the passengers, according to their nationalities are, two Spanish citizens, nine British citizens, four French citizens, six Italian citizens, four Portuguese citizens, two German citizens, two Irish citizens, two Dutch citizens, and four Austrian citizens.
