TEMPO.CO, JakartaPT Kereta Api Indonesia's (KAI) Senior Corporate Communications Manager for Operations Zone I, Sapto Hartoyo, said that tickets for trains originating from Jakarta towards several destinations have been completely sold out ahead of the 2016 Eid al-Adha holiday.

As many as 44,000 tickets - both regular and extra tickets - that PT KAI have released on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from Gambir, Senen and Tanjung Priok Stations have been sold.

The fare breakdown comprises of 24,000 executive class tickets, and 20,000 economy class tickets. "Extra tickets comprises some 20 percent of the total," said Sapto to Tempo on Saturday, September 10, 2016.

According to Sapto, PT KAI has deployed 60 regular services, plus 15 additional services out of Jakarta's Gambir and Pasar Senen Stations. "Extra services will operate between September 8 and 15," he said.

Sapto said that tickets for East Java-bound services sells out very quickly - and other popular destinations include Yogyakarta, and other holiday destinations in Central Java.

Queues have been observed since last Thursday, but the spike in overall passenger numbers are relatively negligible. "We serve around 40,000 passengers per day," said Sapto.
