TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Some 3,500 security personnel are ready to secure the Eid al-Adha celebration in Jakarta.
“We will be deploying approximately 3,500 personnel from Metro Jaya Police Department, Fire Brigades, Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Transportation Department, Jasa Marga, and backed by the army personnel from Kodam Jaya,” Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Moechgiyarto said at Metro Jaya Police Headquarter on Thursday, September 8.
The security will be focused on tourist sites, accesses into and from Jakarta, and shopping centers, according to Moechgiyarto. A tight security will also be done during the takbiran (event on Eid's evening).
The former West Java Regional Police Chief also predicted that congestions will occur at several points in the region. It will be a long weekend considering that Eid Al-Adha falls on September 12 (Monday).
This is done in order to ensure the safety and convenience of the people during the Eid al-Adha celebration at tourist sites and other locations, Moechgiyarto said.
