TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The House of Representatives (DPR) deems Comm. Gen. Budi Gunawan is competent to lead the National Intelligence Agency's (BIN).
The statement came from DPR's Commission I (Intelligence) chairman Abdul Kharis Almasyhari after a three-hour fit and proper test against Budi at the DPR building.
"Commission I's internal meeting assessed that Budi Gunawan is competent and fit to replace Sutiyoso," Abdul said in Jakarta Wednesday, September 7.
President Joko Widodo made the suggestion to have Budi Gunawan as chief of the National Intelligence Agency (BIN) replacing Sutiyoso on Friday, last week.
Budi is currently the deputy chief of the National Police. He is also the former chief of the Police's Education and Training Institution, former chief Regional Police of Jambi and Bali, former division head of the National Polices Professional and Security Development Affairs, as well as an aide to former President Megawati Soekarnoputri.
