TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta saw 348 violators of the odd-even scheme on the first day of its implementation, Tuesday, August 3, said Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Division chief Sr. Comr. Awi Setiyono.
Awi said police confiscated 189 driver’s licenses (SIM) and 159 vehicle licenses (STNK) in the process. “Violators will be charged with violating Article 287,” he said.
Violators will charged with violating Article 287 of Law No. 22/2009 on the odd-even license plate policy. They could face 2 months in jail or Rp500,000 fine.
The Jakarta administration has decided to implement the odd-even scheme to replace the 3-in-1 rule to address the city’s congestion problem. Earlier, police and Jakarta transport department had disseminated the scheme from June 28 to July 26. It then was trialed from July 27 to August 26, while its full implementation has been effective since August 27.
