TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT XL Axiata (IDX: EXCL) is setting its 4.5G technology cellular service to maximize fast quality service in four areas including Jabodetabek, Bandung, Surabaya, and Denpasar.
LTE XL Vice President Rahmadi Mulyohartono said the company had actually implemented a 4T4R technology, which is actually an advanced version of 4G technology.
“So far, XL recently implemented 4T4R, or the fast track for the 4G network. Our target in 2017 is that the 4.5G will be ready,” Rahmadi said in a written statement on Thursday, September 1, 2016.
The “4T4R” technology is a development of the “2T2R” version, he said. Technically, the 4T4R tech uses a multi-signal combination, which simultaneously combines 4 transmit signals and 4 receive signals.
Therefore, the technology allows large capacity data transmission with a speed up to 210 Mbps with a 15 MHz bandwidth. “So, in addition to speed, a more stabilized internet connection could also be obtained,” Rahmadi said.
By the implementation of the technology, XL is ready to move forward to 4.5G. XL has also increased the capacity frequency for 4G service to 15MHz, which will be improved to 20MHz in a short time.
The 4.5G technology has the advantages in speed and stability compared to 4G technology. The Base Transceiver Station (BTS) will also be doubled in capacity which will benefit the provider.
The XL’s plan is in accordance with the government’s expectation of implementing the 4.5G service during the Asian Games 2018 event in Jakarta.
