Tax Amnesty Targeting Rp57tn Unpaid Taxes

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Rp165 trillion revenues targeted from the tax amnesty program are not only sourced from the retribution. Tax Director General Ken Dwijugiasteadi said taxpayers' arrears are also included in the tax amnesty revenue post.

"The amnesty proceeds are not only from the retribution. People who want to join the tax amnesty program must pay their taxes because unpaid tax is a component of the tax amnesty. The amount of unpaid taxes is still large at almost Rp57 trillion," Ken said in Jakarta Tuesday, August 30.

Meanwhile, Finance Ministry spokesman Lucky Afirman projected that taxpayers will only join the program after the end of the first period, which is at the end of September.

"According to our field officers, many taxpayers are still making calculations," he said.

Lucky is confident that the tax amnesty revenue target will be met. As of August 30, the received retribution amounted to Rp2.35 trillion. "We believe the peak will be on the second and fourth week of September."

To anticipate a surge in the number of tax amnesty participants, the Tax DG is increasing the operating hours of its tax offices (KPP).

On Saturdays, the tax offices will open for six hours from 08:00 to 14:00. On Sundays, the offices will open from 08:00 to 12:00. Tax offices are also assigned to accept tax notices (SPTs) and wealth declarations (SPH).

Meanwhile, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) considers adding more brokers and investment managers as gateways for repatriated funds to manage and absorb the funds.
