Japan Uses These Methods to Reduce Pollution

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government of Japan is targeting to reduce carbon emission by 26 percent in 2030 through several ways.

According to Toyota Motor Corporation, currently, 23 percent of carbon emission is contributed by the transportation; following the increase of motor vehicles. Carbon dioxide has been highly increasing since 1990 and is estimated to continue to increase until 2035.

Morio Owaki, Toyota Motor Asia-Pacific Vice President revealed its plan to reduce carbon emission in Japan by 26 percent in 2030 under the 2013 period level, or down from 225 Mt to 163 Mt.

“The government of Japan is leading the carbon emission reduction program and is supported by the automotive industry by manufacturing environmentally-friendly vehicles,” Morio said at the Toyota Technology Media Trip 2016 on Tuesday, August 30.

The Japanese Government carrying out several ways to reduce carbon emission among others by using the environmentally friendly and fuel-efficient vehicles, as well as adopting eco-driving, increasing traffic flow, and conducting vehicle efficiency practice.

The government also provided incentives such as tax reduction for environmentally-friendly vehicles, both for passenger and commercial vehicles.
