TEMPO.CO, Cirebon - A Cessna 172 training aircraft has crashed in a paddy field in Banjarwangun Village, Cirebon - West Java, on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, at around 9:10 AM. Two plane crews were reportedly survived. “They only suffered injuries,” said Cirebon Police Precinct chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Indra Jafar.
The two crews are a flight instructor and his student. As of press time, the cause of the crash is still unknown. The victims had been taken to the nearest community health center (puskesmas) to receive treatment.
The scene has been sealed off by police, according to Indra. The plane wreck had been left upside down at the scene. It has also attracted the attention of locals.
Maman, a witness, said the aircraft was seen flying at a low height before crashing. “It’s common to see training aircraft here, but not at that low altitude,” Maman said. Soon after, the plane landed in a paddy field. However, the plane touched the ground at high speed, flipping it upside down.
