TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Police are investigating the possibility that the Medan suicide bomber was not acting on his own. The police Spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Agus Rianto, said that the suspect has received Rp10 million offer from an unidentified person.
"He was offered some money," said Agus. He added that the suspect met with the person on Thursday, August 25.
The unidentified person led the suspect until IAH created the bomb by using the tools and materials given by the person.
Regardless, Head of the State Intel (BIN), Sutiyoso, claimed that the suspect was a lone wolf and that he is not included in any terrorist cell. "He is a single player - just like that in Solo. He is not affiliated," said Sutiyoso.
He added that the suspect is an IS supporter who had learned about the group via the internet. "He was inspired and starting to make a bomb."
