TEMPO.CO, Kupang - The Provincial Police of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) uncovered seven human trafficking networks in the province. Some of the networks have been arrested.
"There are seven trafficking networks that exist in the province," NTT Chief of Police Brig. Gen. E. Widyo Sunaryo told Tempo on Monday, August 29.
One of the trafficker rings, YLR, used a company named CSA-Medan to "recruit" victims. YLR then ordered another network, ST, to recruit victims through go-betweeners AL and YSF, who are in charge of making fake IDs. YLR also acts as a handler to depart victims recruited by other agents through Kupang's El Tari Airport.
"As an agent, YLR has trafficked 121 people. As a handler, it had shipped 820 people," said Widyo said.
Other networks, WFD/D and ST are still at large. The police are now searching for a group, PT SMJ, that creates fake IDs out of suspicion their involvement in the human trafficking crime.
Another network being hunted by the police is YN, a group of people who recruiting people to become illegal foreign workers. YN works for YLR, NAT, AMT, AP, and YB.
Another network being pinned with charges of trafficking illegal foreign workers is NAT. the network uses the services provided by PT MT Jakarta, PT MSJ Jakarta and PT RAB Medan. The victims are recruited and handled by the MF network, which operates at El Tari Airport.
"As agents, MS has trafficked a hundred people, while as airport handler they trafficked 89 people," Widyo said
The last network is YP, which is a recruiter and trafficker for illegal foreign workers through PT Ed Pontianak. From these networks, Brig. Gen. Widyo said the police have named 13 people as suspects.
