TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) Gen. Tito Karnavian has promised to make Freddy Budiman's video confession publicly available. That said, Tito declined to comment about when the video is going to be made public because the video itself is still a subject of investigation by Polri.

Tito's statement was made as a response to the calls made by the Coordinator for the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras), Haris Azhar, who wanted the video to be made public. "Unfortunately, we are currently investigating the content of the video - and if it leaks to the public it will be detrimental to our investigation," said Tito at the Jakarta Police Headquarters on Sunday, August 28, 2016.

The Polri Chief has also formed a fact-finding team to the establish the truth behind the allegations that Freddy made in the confessional video - as conveyed by Haris - which is made up of members of Polri and the Chief of Setara Institute Hendardi, the National Police Commission Member, Poengky Indarti, and communications specialist, Effendi Gazali.

"We want non-Polri members to be a part of this for the sake of objectivity," said Tito, who repeatedly promised that the content of the video will be made public, once the fact-finding team are finished with the investigation. "There's a time for everything, but that time is not now."

Previously on July 28, 2016, Haris Azhar uploaded a statement on his Facebook account containing details of Freddy Budiman's confession when they met at Nusa Kambangan Correctional Facility in Central Java, back in 2014. According to Haris, Freddy spoke about how easy it was to smuggle and control the drug trade from within the Indonesian prison system - ironically, with the help of the prison wardens and guards.

Furthermore, claimed the now-deceased Freddy, he paid bribes amounting in the billions of Rupiahs to members of the National Anti-Narcotics Agency (BNN) and Polri officials.

Freddy faced the firing squad in Nusa Kambangan on July 29, 2016 - four hours after Haris published his post of Facebook.
