Govt to Build Maritime Fisheries Business Center in Outer Islands

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti plans to build integrated maritime and fisheries business centers in 15 locations in Indonesia’s outer islands.

"The development of those centers can be faster with the Instruction of the President," said Minister Susi Pudjiastuti in his office, Jakarta, Friday, August 26, 2017.

The Presidential Instruction in question is Presidential Instruction No. 7 of 2016 on the Acceleration the Development of the National Fisheries Industry signed by President Joko ‘Jokowi; Widodo on August 22, 2016.

In the Instruction, Minister of Marine and Fisheries is in charge of taking measures related to policies in the development in capture fisheries, aquaculture, processing, marketing in the country, exports of fishery products, and national salt ponds.

Susi said she has invited leaders and directors of seven state-owned enterprises in fisheries sector  to follow up the Instruction.

They are President Director of PT Nusantara Fisheries, Director General of Fisheries Company Indonesia, President Director of PT PAL, President Director of PT Industri Ships Indonesia, President Director of PT Djakarta Lloyd, Director of Marketing and Production of PT Garam, and Commercial Director of PT Pelni.
