TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Apple is reportedly working on a Snapchat competitor. The iPhone maker is also said to be currently testing out social connectivity features within iOS.
Apple is said to be designing an app that allows users to record video, apply filter, and upload the result to social media network in less than a minute.
Users can later share videos using platforms such as Twitter. Apple is believed to be experimenting with a Snapchat clone.
A number of sources say at least one working prototype of Apple’s video sharing app has square format that has been popularized by Instagram among smartphone users.
Apple is rumored to launch the app in 2017, which is developed by the same division as the creator of Final Cut Pro and iMovie. Reports from Bloomberg also said Apple is currently testing various new social connectivity features for upcoming iOS versions.
A few of the projects are said to include the consolidation of all communications (text, mail, IM) between two people inside one screen, as well as increasing the functionality of “proactive assistance” that Apple first introduced last year.
Apple previously attempted to create a social network called Ping, but failed to meet the Cupertino-based company’s expectation, according to Phone Arena.
