TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) claimed that the odd-even policy trial in the past month has reduced congestion.
“The odd-even policy trial in the past month has went well. The number of cars has dropped to around 20 percent” Basuki said Friday in Jakarta.
However, he admitted that some private vehicles had violated the odd-even policy.
Moreover, he said that the odd-even policy has been implemented preceding the Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) system in several thoroughfares in the capital.
“The odd-even policy is a transitional policy towards the implementation of the ERP system. But I see that the odd-even policy trial has successfully reduced the number of cars,” Basuki said.
Jakarta Transportation Department in cooperation with Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Division has rolled out the odd-even policy on July 27 to August 26 on Jalan Thamrin, Sudirman, Kuningan and Gatot Subroto.
