TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hundreds of people claimed from the Jaringan Rakyat Miskin Jakarta (Jakarta`s Poor People Network) waged a protest in front of the regional office of the National Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) in Jakarta.
They voice their protest over the notion that the party is to support incumbent governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama in the upcoming gubernatorial election.
Mob coordinator, Eny Rochayati, said that they oppose Ahok to be the new governor. "There are a lot of more able candidates for the position," she said.
Eny said that Ahok has oppressed the underprivileged community since his rise as governor. "The government does not want to open a dialogue with the people," she said.
