TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras) Haris Azhar met with the Regional Representative Council (DPD) speaker Farouk Muhammad, Wednesday, August 24, 2016. The meeting with Farouk was held to discuss Freddy Budiman’s testimony, according to Haris.
“I asked whether he could give a helping hand,” Haris said Wednesday at the Parliament building, Jakarta.
Haris said that the efforts made by the agencies—who Freddy claimed of receiving illicit fee from drug trafficking—by forming investigation teams are not enough. “They still have some loopholes,” he said.
The loopholes, according to Haris, are there because the teams were formed by Police, the National Armed Force (TNI) and the National Narcotics Agency, respectively, which could not compliment each other. “Therefore, a coordinated independent team is needed,” Haris said.
Haris also hoped that authorities would also pursue any other parties which were not mentioned in his article. They are expected to further investigate his Facebook article. “But I don’t know how far they go with the investigation,” he said.
