TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief of the Work Group for the Economic Policy Package Teten Masduki said that the government was still in the process of deliberating the Presidential Regulation on the natural gas governance required for the establishment of a gas aggregator company.
"There's no finalization yet about the gas aggregator company. It's between Pertagas and PGN. [PGN] is planning to form a holding. That's still being discussed. In addition, the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry is still vacant. So there has been a delay," Teten said at the Coordinating Economic Ministry in Jakarta on Tuesday, August 23, 2016.
Secretary of the workgroup Satya Bhakti Parikesit echoed Teten's comment saying that the establishment of a new company to serve as a gas aggregator was still being discussed. Bhakti added the presidential regulation could be scrapped as PGN and Pertamina was planning to form a holding company.
"Is the presidential regulation still necessary? It might not. It’s being discussed. Since it concerns several institutions, the deliberation must be conducted carefully. We don’t want to see the policy unimplemented," Bhakti explained.
To this date, one of 203 main regulations in the economic policy packages has not been finalized yet. According to Teten, six out of 26 derivative or technical regulations are not finalized yet.
"Six out of 26 technical regulations will be finalized this week," Teten, who also serves as the Presidential Chief of Staff, said.
