TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo admitted that he is not satisfied with the 17.8 percent increase in investment last year. Jokowi asserted the number can went even higher if licensing processes can be accelerated. The President later suggested that the Investment Coordinating Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BKPM) to take over halted license processes in Ministries.
"BKPM Chief, start taking over [authorities to process licenses], so that licenses can be issued faster. So that investors do not need to visit every ministry," Jokowi said on Tuesday, August 23, 2016.
The President asserted that the Single Window Integrated Services (PTSP) at the BKPM is actually good. Therefore, Jokowi suggested that BKPM should actively take over stalled licensing processes. Nevertheless, the President said that the BKPM’s PTSP is not without flaws. Jokowi said that the PTSP still have room for more improvement in terms of processing speed and readiness.
In addition to speed, synergy between the Central PTSP and regional PTSP can still be improved, according to the President. Jokowi added that there were times when the processing speed in the regional and central PTSP was not in sync. "There has to be a standardized, synergized, and coordinated investment services between central and regional [PTSP]," Jokowi said.
