TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is scheduled to question Central Jakarta District Court judge Agustinus Setyo Wahyu as a witness in the alleged bribery of the court’s alternate clerk.
“[The judge] will be questioned as a witness for SAN,” said the KPK’s News and Information Bureau chief Priharsa Nugraha in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 16, 2016.
SAN is the intials of Muhamad Santoso, an alternate clerk of Central Jakarta District Court. In the case, he has allegedly received 28,000 Singapore dollars in bribes from PT Kapuas Tunggal Persada. The money was allegedly given to Santoso to get a favourable ruling for PT Kapuas in a civil case in Central Jakarta District Court.
Aside from Santos, the anti-graft agency has also named two other suspects, namely a staff of Wirantakusumah legal consulting office, Ahmad Yani and PT Kapuas Tunggal Persada’s lawyer, Raoul Adhitya Wiranatakusumah.
PT Kapuas, a natural resources company, had been facing a lawsuit from PT Mitra Maju Sukses. To win it, Raoul had allegedly bribed Santoso. The bribery was uncovered during the KPK’s sting operation on Thursday, June 30, 2016. The KPK arrested Santoso and Yani at separate locations in Jakarta.
Investigators seized two bags from Santoso, containing two brown envelopes. Each of the envelope contained 25,000 and 3,000 Singapore dollars.
