TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - China, primary buyer of U.S. Treasury securities, has reduced its holding in June, according to the latest data from the U.S. Treasury Department on Monday, Aug. 15.
China cuts its treasuries holding by $3.2 billion in June, with a total holding at $1.2408 trillion. The country increased $1.2 billion of US. treasuries in May, but cut its holdings in April and March.
Japan, the second biggest foreign holder of U.S. treasuries, has added its holding by $14.5 billion to $1.1477 trillion in June. At the end of June, the overall foreign holdings of U.S. treasuries is up to $6.281 trillion from $6.2099 trillion in May, according to Xinhua.
