Tontowi/Liliyana Clash with Praveen/Debby in Olympic QuarterFinal

TEMPO.CO, JakartaTwo Indonesian badminton mixed double pairs Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir dan Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto will clash early as they have to meet in the Quarter Final of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

From the result of the Mixed Double draw done on Saturday, four Quarter Final matches will be held on Sunday featuring eight pairs who have won the Grup Stage matches.

The Quarter Final matches will be held on Sunday evening local time (Monday morning Indonesian time).

From those eight pairs, China also has two pairs in the Quarter Final but the two Chinese pairs will not meet in the Quarter Final.

Tontowi/Lilyana, who are now ranked number three in the world, topped Group C, while Praveen/Debby came as the runner-up of Group A.

Meanwhile, other matches will see the winner of Group A Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei from China facing the runner-up of Group C, Kenta Kazuno/Ayane Kurihara from Japan.

Winner of Group B Robert Mateuziak/Nadiesda Zieba from Poland will take on the Malaysian pair and the runner-up of Group C, Chan Peng Soon/Choh Liu Ying, while the South Korean duo of Ko Sung Hyun/Kim Ha Na who topped Group D is up against Cina's Xu Chen/Ma Jin, who came in the second place in B.

However, Indonesia is assured of a place in the Mixed Double Semi Final.

Commenting on the Quarter Final match said that she and Tantowi have to be ready to play against any pair.

"We also have to stay focused but enjoy the match," she said.
