TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Garuda Mataram Motor, as one of Volkswagen-authorised distributor in Indonesia, has launched a new Caravelle T6 variant - a limited edition, red-and-white Caravelle - to celebrate Indonesia's upcoming Independence Day.
"This colour scheme is reminiscent of the Indonesian flag, and this limited-edition run is aimed to celebrate Indonesia's Independence Day, which falls on August 17," said the Executive Director of Garuda Mataram Motor, Andrew Nasuri, at the 2016 Gaikindo's Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) in Indonesia Convention and Exhibition (ICE) Center in Serpong, Tangerang, on Thursday, August 11, 2016.
Only six of these limited edition multi-purpose vehicle (MPVs) were made by Volkswagen's factory in Germany, both in its' short wheel base and long wheel base model.
Apart from the eye-catching look, the Caravelle T6 has a 'captain seat' configuration in its' rear cabin - which means that all passengers seated in the rear could see each other face-to-face - that allows it to function as a mobile office. Furthermore, the new Caravelle has an adaptive chassis control, which configures the car into three distinct handling mode - normal, sport, and comfort - at the touch of a button.
As a safety feature, the Caravelle is equipped with a driver alert system - a computer-based system which will flash and sound out a warning, that recommends the driver to rest or take a nap when the car begins to swerve in and out of a lane.
Beneath the bonnet, the Caravelle T6 is powered by a turbocharged, two-litre engine, which churns out 204 horsepowers without having to sacrifice its' fuel-efficiency.
The red-and-white limited edition run is currently priced at Rp 1,650 billion each for the short wheel base models, while the long wheel base models are priced at Rp 1,750 billion.
