TEMPO.CO, Papua - An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter Scale (SR) has struck the regency of Central Memberamo in the Province of Papua on Sunday, July 31, 2016 on 10:07 Eastern Indonesia Time (WIT).
According to information gathered from the Meterology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in Jakarta, the epicentre of the earthquake is located at a depth of 10 kilometres, some 38 kilometres, Northeast of Central Memberamo.
That said, BMKG said that the earthquake has no tsunami potential, so residents are advised to remain calm.
Central Memberamo Regency borders four other regencies in Papua - namely Mamberamo Raya, Jaya Wijaya, Tolikara, and Yalimo.
