TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale hit West South East Maluku regency on Saturday at 9:47 pm local time.
Data from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that the epicenter of the quake was located 168 kilometers off the cost of West South East Maluku.
The location of the quake is at a longitude of 6.28 west and a longitude of 130.51 east. The quake occurred at the depth of 151 kilometer.
From its official website, BMKG reported that the quake did not potentially trigger the Tsunami.
West South East Maluku has often been hit by earthquakes. Data from the BMKG shows that in the past two months, at least 6 quakes measuring 5 on the Richter scale have hit the area.
As this news is written, there is yet no report on building damages or casualties form the quake.
