TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of Jakarta Transportation Agency Andri Yansyah said the agency has given time until September for online app-based taxis to obtain necessary permits for their cars, including the road-worthiness test (KIR).
If after September the necessary permits have not been obtained, Andri said the agency would impose sanctions to them.
"If they cannot have the necessary permits, we will ask Comminication and Information Ministry to close the apps," he said to Tempo on Sunday (31/7).
The operation to raid online app-based taxis on Saturday will be done twice more, Andri said.
Andri also hopes that around 1,500 online-based taxis operating in Jakarta can meet requirements set by the Jakarta Transportation Agency.
In operation on Saturday, the agency arrested 11 online app-based taxis in several areas in Jakarta such as Kelapa Gading mall, Mall of Indonesia Kelapa Gading, Matraman, Cempaka Mas, and Jalan Pemuda in East Jakarta.
