TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Director for Public Service and Information for the Directorate General for Taxation of the Ministry of Finance, Hestu Yoga Saksama, said that as per Friday, 29 July, 2016, some Rp579 billion of funds have been repatriated under the newly-launched Tax Amnesty scheme.

Meanwhile, the number of hidden capital that have been declared to the state to be repatriated has amounted to Rp2.54 trillion - Rp634 billion of which will not be repatriated by their owners. "So in total, some Rp3.75 trillion have been declared until Friday," said Hestu to Tempo on Sunday, July 31, 2016.

According to Hestu, the Rp3.75 trillion that has been declared were reported by 340 taxable individuals and/or corporations that are spread across Indonesia. Meanwhile, the retribution that has been paid to the state - which is mandated and calculated under the Tax Amnesty Scheme - has reached Rp84.3 billion.

Friday's figure was a very significant jump compared to the amount declared on Wednesday, wherein only Rp1.78 trillion were reported - despite the fact that on Wednesday, one taxable entity declaring and planning to repatriate Rp458 billion.

As outlined by the 2016 Revised State Budget (R-APBN), the government plans to gain some Rp165 trillion under the new Tax Amnesty Law until December 2016. The plan is highly ambitious - in fact, President Joko Widodo plans to travel to Singapore to promote the Tax Amnesty Law.
